From the recording SAVE SUNDAY FOR ME - Pop

This song was originally created in a courtyard opposite the beach, on a beautiful summer's day in Sydney. As part of a Songwriting retreat you're randomly put together to try and write something. This day I worked with a brilliant guitarist and vocalist—Marcel Viera and Alison Lenton-Murphy, respectively. We briefly discussed a few ideas and then as Marcel started strumming a melody, Alison and I began throwing around random thoughts and phrases as they came to mind, which seemed to piece together quite naturally.

Alison has since re-recorded the song in a way I'd describe as sending out warm and fuzzy, feel-good vibes. Love the clapping throughout—makes me want to share a beach camp fire, singing way into the night!

Lyrics

V1
I know you're a phone call away
Whispers are nice but don't satisfy me
I'm crossing off another day
V2
There’ll be bacon and eggs on the grill
And your coffee'll be good and strong like you like it
I wonder if you're sleeping still
CHORUS/TAG
I need one lazy day
One lazy day
You've been too long away
Save Sunday for me
V3
I wonder where you'll be tonight
I can't keep track and it's getting harder
I ache to feel your touch excite me
CHORUS/TAG
I need one lazy day
One lazy day
You've been too long away
Save Sunday for me
Bridge
Hurry home so you can save me
Count the weekdays back to lazy
You mean more than Thursday, payday
Without you I'm going crazy
CHORUS/TAG/OUTRO - to fade
One lazy day
One lazy day
You've been too long away
Save Sunday for me
One lazy day
Save Sunday for me (one lazy day)
Save Sunday for me (one lazy day)
Save Sunday for me (one lazy day)
