Story

These words filtered into my head when walking a local bay-walk. It was one of those days when I felt exhausted from the first step, like I was dragging a dead weight around. I kept being drawn towards the water and looking through the surface into the thick seaweed swaying to and fro on the bottom; I suddenly thought if you fell in today Kay, the way you're feeling you might just get tangled in those weeds and never surface. I turned the music in my ears down and started songwriting mentally, while I finished walking.

I sent the words to Kat and KAPOWWW!!! She came up with this totally unexpected feel to the melody that could be recorded in so many ways, even in an alternative-grunge-rock feel.

People often ask what genre we write in and we can honestly say it's impossible to pinpoint one—it depends entirely on the mood of the day and what filters through us at any given time; very little of what we do is planned or forced.

Lyrics

V1

My body feels like lead

And I am walking on the edge

What happens if I fall?

And start sinking, what then?

V2

If I get caught amongst the weeds

I/They might choke, till I can’t breathe

Hate that you made me feel

What was I thinking?

PC

Only ever tried to heal, not to hurt you

Wanted you to feel like I do, like I do

CH1

You were the one, who brought me to life

And now you’re gone, the feeling cuts like a knife

I’m hiding a scar that’s been left by your soul

And I’m wondering, if I’ll ever, feel whole again

’cause you were the one, you were the one, you were the one

V3

I can’t stop thinking ’bout tick tock

I wanna stop this body clock and rewind

To the last time; feel the last time

When your body lay with mine

CH2

You were the one, who brought me to life

And now you’re gone, the feeling cuts like a knife

I’m hiding a scar that’s been left by your soul

And I’m wondering, if I’ll ever, feel whole again

(’cause) You were the one

Bridge

You were the one; you made me feel, yeah

You were the one who broke the seal

You had to run, before you, fell

CH1

You were the one, who brought me to life

And now you’re gone, the feeling cuts like a knife

I’m hiding a scar that’s been left by your soul

And I’m wondering, if I’ll ever, feel whole again

You were the one, you were the one, you were the one
