Story
Throw Your White Flag Down is about recognising and bringing an end to futile fighting and instead, surrendering to something, or someone, that’s ultimately a beautiful healing force, or connection.
In this instance the words were written first and Kat came up with this brilliant quirky melody idea, something I couldn't even go close to in my head. Really love the overall idea, melodically and lyrically in this song—I feel they complement each other really well.
Lyrics
V1
I turned my back for a moment
And was under attack 'n' at war
Knew I wouldn’t reach, a place of peace, till you decided
If you were wanting her more, or me
V2
I never signed up for (this) battle
So prove to me that you’re worth the fight
’n’ let the warrior in you, tell her, she might as well go
Delusion led her cry
CH
Throw your white flag down at my feet
Come and meet me here, in between
’cause we’ve fought and we’ve won, when we’ve come undone
No, I just can’t go through that again
So throw your white flag down
V3
Surrender; let’s get back into these sheets
Waiting for an outcome to be stained
Lay here, and soothe these lovers’ wounds
Wrap them tight, where we can hide our shame
CH X2
Throw your white flag down at my feet
Come and meet me, here, in between
’cause we’ve fought and we’ve won, when we’ve come undone
No I just can’t go through that again
So throw your white flag down
At my feet
Come and meet me, here, in between
’cause we’ve fought and we’ve won, when we’ve come undone
I just can’t go through that again
So throw your white flag down
OUTRO
Won’t you throw it down, onto healing ground?
Yes, throw the white flag down
No I just can’t go through that again
So throw your white flag down
Throw it down
On to healing
Ground
