Story

With Sink or Swim, Kat started the idea based on what she'd been observing around her, at the time.

I've been very privileged to work with someone that I just click with—it's a great creative partnership where you can be totally honest about what you feel would be best for the song. Knowing that your co-writer will not take anything you say personally gives you freedom to be brave and try and stretch out the corners of your box, every single time you write.

I love the quirky spacing and phrasing that Kat's developed, over the years we've created together (was going to say 'worked' together, but it's never felt like work.)

Lyrics

V1

I am hearing, you’ve been feeling

You’ve fallen overboard

Now I am fearing, what I’m seeing; don’t run, don’t run

PC

It’s time for you to face and taste what’s in your mouth

CH

Don’t make out that we’re okay

Throw you a line, if it helps you float till you’re ready to say

Feeling cold, you’re in too deep

Don’t sink; just swim, on words your soul can keep

V2

They’ve been saying, you’ve been hiding

Somewhere on the floor

Illusion driven, lowered down; by no one, no one to-

PC

Your womb, your safety tomb; careful you don’t drown

CH

Don’t make out that we’re okay

Throw you a line, if it helps you float till you’re ready to say

Feeling cold, you’re in too deep

Don’t sink; just swim, on words your soul can

Bridge

All of these perfect bubbles, fell heavy and sank down deep

Soaring up to the surface, can you see me; can you see?

CH

Don’t make out that we’re okay

Throw you a line, if it helps you float till you’re ready to say

Feeling cold, you’re in too deep

Don’t sink, just swim on words your soul can

Don’t make out that we’re okay

Throw you a line, if it helps you float till you’re ready to say

Feeling cold, you’re in too deep

Don’t sink, just swim on words your soul can keep
